Issues - Religious Freedom

Article I of the Bill of Rights reads: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof."

Our Constitution grants no authority to the federal government either to grant or deny the religious expressions of the people in any place. Both the First and Tenth Amendments forbid such tyranny.

I will support legislation to deny all branches of government their ability to attack the religious liberties of the people and the states, regardless of the forum in which these liberties are exercised.

I will support legislation to end all form of taxation on churches and other religious organizations. This taxation and regulation is a direct and dangerous step toward state control of the church. Such intrusion is prohibited by the Constitution and must be halted.

Pursuant to Article III, § 2 of the Constitution, I will sponsor and support legislation to restrict the Federal courts from hearing any more cases concerning:

  • Prayer in School;
  • Pray in school sponsored sporting events;
  • Displays of the Ten Commandment, wherever they may be;
  • Prayer in court proceedings.

We keep hearing the same politicians spewing out their "outrage" of "judicial tyranny", but they completely ignore the constitutionally provided separation of powers. Congress CAN and SHOULD control the judiciary.
